Customer Story: Habitat for Humanity of the San Juans

Founded

Montrose County, Colorado, 1991

Their story

Habitat for Humanity of the San Juans became an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International in July 1991. Their mission is to improve the lives of individuals and families in need by building and renovating basic, affordable homes while educating and advocating for housing resources in the San Juan Region.

Their vision is that every family in Montrose, Ouray and San Miguel Counties have the opportunity to have a home that is safe, affordable and in good condition while fostering a pride in ownership.

What they do

Habitat for Humanity of the San Juans knows that homeownership plays a critical role in breaking the cycle of poverty. Because of this, they have built 50 homes in Montrose County, Colorado since 1991, helping families achieve the dream of homeownership.

Along with building new homes, Habitat for Humanity of the San Juans relaunched their critical home repair program in 2015. This program helps low income homeowners with critical home needs. So far they have completed 22 repair projects!

Not only is Habitat for Humanity of the San Juans making a difference in their local community, they are also changing the lives of families around the world. Habitat for Humanity of the San Juans tithes quarterly to Habitat for Humanity International. Because of their quarterly tithing, 26 families around the world have received new homes.

How they’re using Kindful

For Habitat for Humanity of the San Juans, Kindful serves as the brain of their operation. Kindful tracks all of their donor information, loan repayments, donor leads, and event attendees. Thanks to the ability to assign tasks to other employees, Habitat for Humanity is able to streamline their efforts and decrease the chance of miscommunication.

Kindful’s integrations also play a critical role in their fundraising program. They can pull all of their Stripe customers from Kindful, export the list to Mailchimp, and then email their donors about an exclusive event available through Eventbrite.

By combining all of their data into one central hub, Habitat for Humanity of the San Juans saw a 10% increase in donations year over year, a 30% increase in event attendance, and their staff was able to save 10 hours per week in data entry.
