Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission was established with a simple goal in mind: to serve breakfast every Sunday to Philadelphia’s poor, while sharing with them the love of Jesus Christ. Since the Mission’s founding in 1878, Sunday Breakfast has grown to be the largest emergency shelter in Philadelphia, and the only provider of the three free meals a day, 365 days a year to homeless men, women, and children. Sunday Breakfast has become a safe haven for the homeless community by ministering to the mind, body, and spirit of anyone who walks through our doors.

What they do

Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission provides for the practical and spiritual needs of the hungry, homeless, and hurting in the Philadelphia area. Here are just a few of the amazing things this nonprofit is doing.

• Serves over 600 meals a day.
• Provides emergency homeless shelter services (and have over 200 beds!).
• Hosts health clinics – including weekly HIV and Hepatitis testing.
• Provides recovery programs for men and transitional housing programs for women.
• Offers a GED program to help participants become self-sufficient.

Sunday Breakfast works with hundreds of volunteers who help serve meals, take food donations, and much more. Plus, every fall they hold an annual food drive.

How they are using Kindful

Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission uses Kindful to manage all of their transactions and online donations. Thanks to Kindful, all of their data is in one convenient location and in an easy-to-use format. They can segment and target their 14,000 contacts to ensure they are sending their donors the right message. This segmentation allows Sunday Breakfast to build stronger, lasting relationships with their donors.

While most of their giving is done offline, Sunday Breakfast hopes to transition donors to give online. One fundraising goal for this fiscal year is to have at least 2% of their email file give recurring monthly donations.
